dr. Eric Hanus

Manager of the Jules Horowitz Reactor consortium, CEA, France

Eric Hanus is currently the manager of the Jules Horowitz Reactor consortium, a materials testing reactor under construction at CEA Cadarache center.

He holds a degree in materials engineering, complemented by a PhD in materials science and mechanics. He began his career in the private sector, holding various R&D positions. He then joined CEA’s Fuels Research Department, where he initially focused on the development of new fuels. Eric then transitioned to the LECA-STAR hot laboratory to head a team dedicated to the experimental testing of irradiated fuels.

He subsequently moved to the Reactors Research Department as a project manager for light-water reactor innovation. In this role, he launched a new project on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) designed for heat production, cogeneration, and hydrogen production. He also coordinated CEA’s contribution to the Nuward SMR project. In 2024, Eric joined the Jules Horowitz Reactor project to manage relations with consortium members.
