Micheál has wide experience in the Irish public and private sectors, as a Director at the Irish EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and head of Marine Environment services at the Marine Institute. He served as a policy advisor in the Department of Marine and as a diplomat in Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
He was a member of the expert advisory group at the Citizens’ Assembly on Biodiversity Loss in 2022.
He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Doctorate in Business Administration on the topic of “Social Learning and Water Management, the case of the Water Framework Directive”.
Micheál is a director of several non governmental groups such as the Irish Ocean Literacy Network (IOLN), Corrib Beo, which promotes the sustainable development of the Corrib catchment and the Blasket Island Foundation in county Kerry, Ireland.
