Malcolm is Distinguished Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Lancaster University, UK, and a specialist in radiation detection and isotopic analysis. He is author on > 350 articles, Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science and the European Journal of Physics N (EPJ-N), and was Editor on Progress in Nuclear Energy for 10 years. He was awarded the James Watt medal by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in 2014, a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2016 and is author of: 'Nuclear Engineering: A Conceptual Guide to Nuclear Power', published by Butterworth-Heinemann in 2017.
