Sean Tyson is the Senior Advisor in the Office of International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Mr. Tyson has been involved in international nuclear activities for his entire career, including Program Manager in the late 1990s for the fuel cleaning, encapsulation and safeguarding activities at the Nyongbyon Nuclear Research Center in North Korea under the U.S.-North Korean Agreed Framework, DOE Program Manager for cooperative security upgrades at several Russian nuclear facilities in the early 2000s, and most recently has supported DOE’s international efforts to identify options for multinational approaches to the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle, including geologic disposal. Mr. Tyson currently is engaged with international partners in Europe and Africa developing new collaborative programs in nuclear policy, research and development, as well as planning and organizing the deployment of Clean Energy Training Centers in Poland, Ghana and in other regions.
