Advanced core physics modelling in ZPRs to enhance NPP fleet performance and safety

Patrick Blaise, PhD, Ing., Research Director, is currently scientific support for Gen2&3 and SMR R&D programs at the Scientific Division for Energies at CEA (French Atomic and Alternative Energies Commission). He is in charge of co-building the Simulation and Experiment R&D roadmap for the next decade. He was former Scientific Advisor for CEA Research Reactor network, technical correspondent for several international collaborations, and head of the Experimental Programs Laboratory, in charge of 3 main ZPRs (EOLE, MINERVE and MASURCA) at CEA Cadarache Research Centre.

Engineer from Brussels Industrial High School(1991), Master in Nuclear Engineering from Louvain Polytechnic School (1992) and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Marseille University (1996), he has about 25 years of experience in the field of reactor physics & technology, and multi-physics simulation and experiments. He authored and co-authored around 200 publications, with more than 80 in peer-review journals.

His major fields of research and expertise are reactor physics, instrumentation, as well as sensitivity and uncertainty analysis. He is supervising several PhD students, and teaches experimental physics at the Grenoble Polytechnic School.
