About the International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry

The Nineteenth International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry will be held between 14th and 19th May 2028 at the Grand Hotel Bernardin in Portorož, Slovenia. The Symposium is jointly sponsored by the European Working Group on Reactor Dosimetry (EWGRD) and ASTM International Committee E10 on Nuclear Technology and Applications.

This Symposium is held approximately every three years to provide a forum for the interchange of state-of-the-art techniques, data bases and standards for radiation metrology. The Symposium will be of value to those involved in reactor dosimetry, including researchers, manufacturers and representatives from industry, utilities and regulatory agencies.

The first ASTM-Euratom Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry took place in 1975 at the Joint Research Centre, Petten, The Netherlands. This Symposium generally defined the status of reactor neutron metrology and damage analysis programs, and identified the dosimetry needs of the nuclear power industry.

Subsequent Symposia further emphasised nuclear data and techniques for characterization of neutron and gamma-ray environments, benchmark fields, damage correlations, pressure vessel surveillance, and radiation effects on materials and electronics. Nearly twenty countries are expected to be represented at the Nineteenth International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry to be held in Portorož, Slovenia in May 2028.

The key Symposium topics include the broad areas of:

  • Experimental techniques, measurements and monitoring
  • Calculational methods
  • Reactor surveillance, plant life management and decommissioning
  • Nuclear data, uncertainties and adjustments
  • Benchmarks and inter-comparisons
  • Dosimetry in test and research reactors, including accelerators and fusion

The Symposium will be organized into oral and poster presentations, as well as informal round-table workshops. The meeting language will be English.

Further information, including Hotel and Symposium registration, will be posted when available.
