Tom Weir has over 40 years of experience in the global nuclear power industry. He joined Westinghouse in 2006 and has been involved in the new plants business since 2008, deploying the first wave of AP1000 projects. He currently serves as the vice president of Global New Plant Commercial Operations focused on capturing and delivering the next wave of AP1000 plant projects. Prior to the new plants role, Tom served as the Westinghouse representative on the Fukushima Industry Task Force and was the director of global plant engineering leading Westinghouse offices in the US, Spain, Germany and South Africa.
Mr. Weir joined Westinghouse from AREVA NP Inc. where he held the role of senior vice president of the engineering and I&C business unit. Earlier in his career, he led Duke Engineering’s Nuclear Group as senior vice president, worked as a systems engineer throughout Duke’s nuclear units, and at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory as a lead technical investigator and previously was on the TMI-2 accident evaluation team at the Three Mile Island site. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the Pennsylvania State University, project management certification and completed executive management programs at Duke Energy and at the University of Virginia, Darden School.
