Dr. Timothy E. Valentine is the director of the Radiation Safety Information Computational Center (RSICC) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is the country coordinator supporting the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy’s engagements with Slovenia. He has over 30 years of experience ranging from basic research and development, program and project management, strategic planning, and science and nuclear policy development. He is the chair of the international expert group on Reactor Systems Multi-Physics under the auspices of the OECD-NEA. He has twice served as a science and nuclear policy advisor in the U.S Senate first for Senators Bingaman and Alexander and then on the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources working on legislation regarding energy research and development, nuclear technology, and U.S. competitiveness. He has held various line, program management, and technical research positions at ORNL with a focus on energy R&D including nuclear safety, security, and nonproliferation. He received his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1995.
