About us

The Nuclear Society of Slovenia (NSS) is a volunteer association of scientists, professionals and people of other disciplines working or interested in the field of peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. Activities of the Society are based on principles of knowledge dissemination, peaceful use of nuclear technology and environmental protection.

Main scope and goals of the Society

Actively providing public information on technical questions and promotion of the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology.

Maintaining a high quality of expert engagement, promoting the information exchange and the transfer of knowledge and technology to the national industry.

Collaboration in the development of standards and monitoring of legislation in the field of nuclear science and technology in Slovenia.

Supporting the safe operation of nuclear facilities in the Republic of Slovenia, as well as the active participation in solving specific technical problems.

Supporting the literature publication and systematically managing the development of Slovenian terminology in the field of nuclear science and technology.

Collaborating with similar societies and expert organizations, organizing expert meetings and consultations, as well as promotion of professional development, scholarships, and exchange of experts at home and abroad.

President

Assoc. Prof. Igor Lengar

Igor Lengar is a university graduate in physics, holds a PhD in nuclear engineering, is a scientific counselor, and an associate professor in the field of applied physics at the University of Maribor.

He has been professionally involved in nuclear technologies for more than 25 years, working in research, education, as well as industrial applications. He is employed at the Jožef Stefan Institute as the acting head of the Nuclear Training Center (ICJT).

In 1999, he became a member of the Slovenian Nuclear Society, where he served on the executive board and participated in organizing numerous international conferences of the society.

Supervisory Board

Supervisory Board monitors activities of the Management Board and other bodies of the society. Supervisory Board also performs supervision over financial and material operations of the society.

Management Board

Management Board is acting as an execution body for organisational and technical activities based on annual working program of the society under the leadership of the president of the society.
