Igor SIRC graduated at the Faculty of Law of University of Ljubljana in 1998. Since then he has been employed at the SNSA. In over a 20 year period at the SNSA, he has been involved in different areas of nuclear and radiation safety. He acted as the main vehicle in the process of the preparation of numerous acts, resolutions, regulations, and decrees; which were developed to harmonize Slovenian legislation with EU legal requirements and international safety standards. He has been the Head of the Emergency Preparedness Division. He has been a representative of Slovenia in multiple international bodies in the area of emergency preparedness (IAEA, OECD NEA, and HERCA). He is participating in IAEA IRRS missions and was an expert of different project groups within technical assistance of the IAEA and EU – EuropeAid. He was appointed Director of the SNSA by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for a five-year term in 2019. He stands strong to continue the work of the SNSA as a highly respected regulatory body and nuclear saftey regulator in Slovenia and abroad.
